Nicky Garcea

Nicky is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and Director of Capp, where she leads the Advisory team delivering work in Capp’s key areas of assessment, development, performance management and change. Her own areas of specialism include strengths-based assessment, people management, women in leadership and re-organisation. Nicky’s approach to consulting combines strengths and business psychology with organisational development. Since starting her career as a psychologist in 2001, Nicky has delivered work in America, Argentina, Canada, Europe, Nigeria and Venezuela. She has managed long-term client projects with Aviva, Birmingham City Council, Ernst & Young, Napp Pharmaceutical, Royal Mail, Skills Development Scotland and Thomson Reuters.

Nicky is an experienced coach of individuals and teams. Her clients describe her as an expert facilitator of large and small groups. She is adept at using a range of methodologies including Appreciative Inquiry and action research, which she has deployed within a range of organisations. She also regularly delivers Capp’s Realise2 Strengths Practitioner and Team Strengths Practitioner Programmes.

Nicky’s first degree is in Psychology and she holds a Masters (with distinction) in Occupational Psychology from the University of Wales, Cardiff. Nicky is a member of the Division of Occupational Psychology of the British Psychological Society, a registered Healthcare Professional and a certified NTL Organisational Development Practitioner. Nicky is also a Chartership Supervisor to psychologists in training.

Along with Alex Linley and Sue Harrington, Nicky edited the Oxford Handbook of Positive Psychology and Work (Oxford University Press, 2010). Nicky regularly presents at HR conferences, women’s networks and in house events for client organisations, where she speaks on topics including ‘Realising Strengths in Women’ and ‘How Strengths Can Help Organisations and People Achieve their Goals’.

Nicky’s leading Realise2 strengths include Drive, Emotional Awareness, Feedback and Spotlight, all of which she demonstrates in her client engagements and leading the Advisory team.
